1) Imported Tom's two original .wav files into ProTools LE
6.4
2) Ran Sony Oxford Noise Reduction (stereo) plugin, moderate
settings
overall. Printed these files and used them instead of the
originals.
3) Processed both tracks with makeup gain, running both
tracks out
through DA converters into an outboard two channel preamp to
add makeup
gain. I probably added 15-18 dB of makeup gain. At the same
time I
routed the outputs of the analog preamp into my AD
converters and
rerecorded the tracks (at 16 bit/44.1k) into two new tracks
in
ProTools. Drom here forward, I used the new rerecorded
files.
4) Added Waves Q10 eq to each track. Basically, I cut
frequencies in
about 6 or 7 places, parametric settings for inner bands,
rather wide
Q, usually a couple of dB, high and low shelfs too.
5) Panned track 1 (2001 mic) by 50% to the left. Panned
track 2 (603
mic) 50% to the right.
6) Created a Master Fader track. Added the following stereo
plugins
to the Master Fader:
a) Waves C4 multiband compressor. Compressed the lower mids
and
highs a bit. 2 dB makeup gain.
b) Altiverb. 4% wet / 96% dry mix. Using a bright concert
hall
impulse response. Tweaked the damping a bit, as well as the
early
reflection and tail delays.
c) Waves S1 Shuffler plugin to enhance the stereo image a
bit.
d) Waves L1+ Maximizer/Limiter. Output peak set to -1.0 dB.
7) Bounced to disk (a) a 16/44.1k .wav stereo interleaved
file and (b)
a 320k .mp3 file.
